Montreal, August 7th, 2020

The National Congress of Italian Canadians is proud to announce, for its 27th edition, the launch of Montreal’s Italian Week. From August 7 to 23, Montreal’s Italian Week will offer you live concerts, comedy and cooking shows, web capsules and activities for all ages.

Following the tradition, Montreal’s Italian Week will offer free programming for all. Thanks to our sponsors and in particular our presenting sponsor, MastroMD & San DanieleMD, it will be possible again this year to bring fun into your homes. We would also like to acknowledge the support of our government partners from Canada, Quebec and the City of Montreal.

“This is a first for our festival and we are proud of this most innovative turn. We hope that this year’s renewed programming will please everyone and allow you to discover the richness of Italian culture through the web.”

— Me. Antonio Sciascia, president of Italian Week in Montreal

“Our main objective is to celebrate the beauty and the diversity of the Italian-Canadian community. We have worked extremely hard to provide moments of enjoyment for this 27th edition of our festival and we hope that the whole community will come together to experience entertaining virtual moments.”

— Josie Verrillo, Executive Director of Italian Week in Montreal

“The Italian community of Montreal has always shown resilience, solidarity and innovation. This allowed it to go through difficult times and make a great contribution to the development of Montreal. This year, the health crisis we are experiencing forces us to celebrate the vitality of the Italian community in a different way. However, I remain convinced that the people of Montreal will respond again this year and that this 27th Italian Week in Montreal will be crowned with success. Together, let’s celebrate the strength and beauty of the Italian community and all that unites us. ”

— Valérie Plante, Mayor of the City of Montreal

“Arts and culture define and unite us. Montreal’s Italian Week is a major cultural event that attracts a growing crowd every year thanks to its colorful programming. The Government of Canada is pleased to support the hosting of this year’s festival, which turns to online platforms to showcase the artistic, musical and folkloric beauty of Italy. I wish you all a successful 27th meeting! ”

— The Honorable Steven Guilbeault, Minister of Canadian Heritage

Vanessa Grimaldi, the spokesperson for the 27th edition of the festival for the first time will be present in various web capsules to celebrate this completely virtual edition. Vanessa will be able to reach the Italian community thanks to her great commitment on the various digital platforms where she is present. First known in 2017 through her participation on ABC’s The Bachelor, she later created the No Better You Foundation which creates sensory rooms for students with special needs.

Montreal’s Italian Week is always looking to reinvent itself and this year, it will be one of the large-scale festivals to go virtual. Follow them on Facebook, Instagram and website to stay up to date on all the programming and participate in the festival.
